The new Expo Pavilion in Sunderland is an exhibition space celebrating innovation and ambition in the city. It features a winged semi-transparent LED screen – thought to be one of the largest of its kind in the UK. They wanted a family-friendly looping animation capturing the festive season’s spirit.
Taking inspiration from old Christmas card designs, I proposed using the winged structure of the screen to formally suggest a triptych where the wider central panel is a window revealing a whimsical, painterly snowy landscape and the panels either side establishing a point-of-view from a warm, decorated interior.
The animation is screening through Christmas 2024.
